Retirement & Savings
SPE offers programs to help protect your income now and in the future. From life and disability insurances to health savings accounts, there are many options to consider and choose.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

    Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Flexible Spending accounts allow eligible employees to pay for certain health and dependent care expenses through authorized payroll deductions, prior to federal, state and social security taxes. Health Care and/or Dependent Care FSA expenses must be incurred during the calendar year (until December 31) or any money remaining in the accounts will be forfeited.

    FSA Health Spending Account

    FSA Limited Health Spending Account

    FSA Dependent Care Spending Account

    $5,000 (per household) or

$2,500 if married and filing separately.

    • Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts help employees pay for or be reimbursed for eligible health care expenses not covered by an SPE benefit plan or elsewhere.
    • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts are used to pay for dependent care services such as preschool, summer day camp, before or after school programs and child or elder daycare.
    • Limited Purpose Health care Flexible Spending Accounts are offered only to eligble participants in the Sony Consumer Choice Plan. Funds may be used to pay for eligible dental and vision expenses before the Sony Consumer Choice Plan deductible has been met. Once the deductible has been met, the Limited FSA can be used for eligible medical expenses as well.

  • Health Savings Account

    Health Savings Account (HSA)

Employees enrolled in the Sony Consumer Choice Plan can also enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA is a permanent and portable tax-deferred account (like a bank account) that can be used to pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses. The law limits the amount an individual can contribute each year to an HSA, but unlike an FSA, unused HSA funds roll over year to year and can earn interest.

Additional details can be found for the HSA in the Rules of the Road, provided by Aetna.

Read through all of the information provided on the HSA prior to enrolling in the Sony Consumer Choice Plan and associated HSA. An HSA is not an SPE sponsored benefit--it's an account that you own and it is your responsibility to make sure you are HSA eligible before enrolling. Eligibility and other restrictions apply to the HSA.

  • Life and Disability

Financial health is just as important as physical health. The company's financial benefits and services can help eligible employees save money now and proactively plan for the future.

  • Sony USA 401(k) Plan

    Sony USA 401(k) Plan

    T. Rowe Price

Eligible employees may participate in the Sony USA 401(k) Plan as a way to set aside money for the future, while saving on taxes now. Plus, when at least 6% of eligible compensation is contributed by the employee, Sony will contribute an additional 4.5% to the account in employer matching contributions.
